Berlin says it will step up aid to Ukraine
Germany has said that it is interested in Ukraine joining the EU.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock has said that Berlin is ready to step up support for Ukraine in its bid to join the EU. This was reported by Tages Schau.
It is clear that in the foreseeable future Ukraine will strengthen the EU, our EU," the politician said.
At the same time, she emphasised that it is in "our own, geopolitical interests that Ukraine joins the European Union".
Since Russia's attack in February 2022, we have seen horrifying images from Ukraine for more than 650 days. That is why we will not only extend our support for Ukraine, but also strengthen it. In the EU, as well as in NATO," she emphasised.
We will remind, in 2024 Germany intends to double military aid to Ukraine. Instead of the previously budgeted 4bn euros in the federal budget, it is planned to spend 8bn euros for this purpose.
