Belarus has deployed about a thousand military personnel to the Ukrainian border - Gayun

Belarus started to transfer its armed forces to Homiel region on 10 August.

Belarus has transferred at least 1,000 military personnel and military equipment to Homiel Region bordering Ukraine after Russia launched an operation in Kursk Region. This was reported by "Belarusian Gayun".

The reason for the transfer of troops in Minsk is called "the situation in Ukraine and Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Currently, a group of at least 1,000 people is concentrated in the southern direction. Recently, several helicopters and attack aircraft, as well as a number of units with APCs, tanks and S-300PS SAMs have been sent to Homel region," reads the report.

In turn, Belarusian Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin said that the country was "strengthening the grouping of troops in Homiel and Mozyr tactical directions".

As noted by Motolko Help journalists, the confirmed grouping, concentrated near the border with Ukraine, includes:

  • 1 mechanised battalion: 30 armoured combat vehicles (BTR-82A), ≈ 350 personnel l/s;
  • 1 tank battalion: at least 20 armoured combat vehicles (T-72B tanks), ≈ 150 men l/s;
  • 1 parachute battalion: 30 armoured combat vehicles (BTR-70MB1), ≈ 300 men l/s;
  • 1 motorised rifle (reconnaissance) company: 16 vehicles, ≈50 men l/s;
  • 1 unit (4 Su-25 attack aircraft): redeployed to the operational airfield;
  • 2 Mi-8 helicopters: redeployed to operational airfields;
  • 1 anti-aircraft missile division (S-300PS SAMs): 5 self-propelled launchers, 5N63S command post, 76N6 radar station, ≈70 manpower;
  • special-purpose units of the KGB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and internal troops, ≈150 people /s.

At the same time, the investigators note that "the number of forces moved to the border does not pose a threat to Ukraine. And the troops are located at a depth of up to 50 kilometres from the border".
