Armed Forces of Ukraine put Russia in a dilemma: withdraw troops from Kherson or hold on

Most of the understaffed airborne troops, which do not have enough personnel, are now taking part in the defense of Kherson.

Ukrainian troops advanced the front line in the south for 20 km. The main Russian defensive forces are not yet under threat. But the Russian command is preparing for different scenarios.

The Russian command probably views the growing threat in the Nova Kakhovka sector as one of its most pressing concerns. Russia faces a dilemma: the withdrawal of combat forces through the Dnieper makes the defense of the rest of the Kherson region more stable; but the political imperative will remain and defend, the review says.
