AirDrop "comes" to Android: less messenger and link fiddling
Google is expanding Quick Share, an Android thingy that will be able to send files directly to an iPhone via AirDrop if the devices are nearby.
If you have an Android and a friend has an iPhone, it's usually inconvenient to quickly transfer photos over the air: "throw them in a cart", "share a link", "upload to the cloud". Now it's about to get easier: Google is expanding Quick Share so that it can send files to Apple devices via AirDrop - right next to you, no wires required.
What it will look like in person:
you select photo/video → Share → Quick Share on Android;
your iPhone appears next to you (if AirDrop is enabled on it);
you send it, and the iPhone receives a request to accept the file, just like a normal AirDrop.
Previously, such "friendship" Android ↔ iPhone was limited (e.g., starting with certain Pixel models), but now Google says it wants to make support for more Android phones and is preparing an expansion with manufacturers.
In parallel, Apple is also moving towards compatibility: the iOS 26.3/beta stuff mentions a Transfer to Android feature to make it easier to transfer data from iPhone to Android.
