AFU shot down two Russian planes, including rare A-50 - mass media
A-50 Russian military long-range radar detection aircraft was shot down over the Sea of Azov. Also, an Il-22M11 was shot down.
The Russian A-50 long-range radar detection and controlaircraft was shot down on 14 January over the Sea of Azov; the Il-22M11 was also hit. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to sources in the Defence Forces. Also this was reported by the people's Deputy Yuri Mysyagin.
According to the sources of the publication in the Defence Forces became known about the shooting down by the Air Force of the AFU military aircraft of Russia A-50 and damage to Il-22M11, tail number 75106.
It is reported that the A-50 aircraft was shot down after it went on duty near Kirillovka around 21:10-21:15 on 14 January.
The A-50 disappeared from radar and stopped responding to requests from tactical aviation, and later a pilot of a Su-30 aircraft of the Russian Air Force detected the ignition and downing of an unidentified aircraft," the publication reported.
The Il-22M11 aircraft was on duty in the Strelkovoye area and was hit near the coast of the Sea of Azov at around 9pm on 14 January. The aircraft tried to land in Anapa, requested evacuation, an ambulance and a fire truck.
