After the Russian attack, consumers in seven regions of Ukraine were left without electricity

As a result of the massive Russian attack on 13 January, consumers in Kiev, Kiev, Odessa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Chernihiv and Zaporizhzhya regions were de-energised.

This was reported by Deputy Energy Minister Oleksandr Vyazovchenko.

Emergency recovery work continues wherever the security situation allows it. Restoration of power supply takes time," he said.

Due to unfavourable weather conditions 17 settlements in Chernihiv and Transcarpathian regions are de-energized. Repair crews are working to restore damaged networks.

The difficult situation in the energy system, caused by Russian shelling, forced operators of distribution systems in Kiev and Kiev region, in Odessa region and in the city of Dnipro to apply restrictions on electricity consumption.

Previously published schedules of hourly shutdowns in these regions are temporarily ineffective. The system restrictions will be cancelled as soon as the situation stabilises," he informed.

The deputy minister added that de-energisation continues for a long time in the frontline and border regions - the situation there is the most difficult due to constant shelling.

Vyazovchenko noted that Ukraine is going through one of the most difficult winters since its independence.

Today Russia carried out another massive shelling of Ukraine, there are dead and wounded in Kharkiv. Emergency power cuts were introduced in Kiev and Buchanskiy district of the region on the morning of 13 January.
