A strike by hauliers at the Polish-Ukrainian border has been taking place in Poland for more than a week.

On the Ukrainian-Polish border, queues to enter Ukraine in front of blocked checkpoints amount to 40 km. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach.

A colleague from the Ministry of infrastructure of Poland came to the meeting on 13 November at the border, I asked her what the queue there further, because, according to the information that I have, it is about 35 kilometres. She said that the queue is about 40 kilometres," he said.

Volodymyr Balin, a representative of the Ukrainian Transport Union organisation, said that drivers stuck at the border lacked water, food, sanitary conditions, and some trucks had no fuel.

Serhiy Derkach said that the Polish authorities had put several bio-toilets, but they did not provide the drivers with food and water.

The traffic to one of the shops has been blocked by the police, who fear clashes between protesters and Ukrainian drivers.

We raised this issue with the voivode again yesterday. He promised to take measures to provide the necessary hygiene products, in particular water and food to our drivers," Serhiy Derkach said.

According to him, probably the only way to end the blockade is to cancel the permission of the Polish authorities to hold a strike.

We shall remind you that on 6 November, a strike of Polish carriers began on the Polish-Ukrainian border, demanding to abolish the "transport corridor" for Ukraine. Thousands of lorries were stuck at the border.
