Kakhovskaya HPP blown up: Region's residents evacuated

The president has convened the NSDC. A meeting of the State Commission for TEC and Emergency Situations will follow.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmygal,reports:

We are working on the evacuation of residents of waterlogged areas. Now evacuation arrangements are being conducted from the Ostrov district in Kherson. We are assessing the consequences for the environment and the threat to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Due to lack of access to it, such assessment is difficult.

Ukrzaliznytsia has joined the evacuation of residents of Kherson and nearby villages due to the enemy bombing of the Kakhovka hydropower plant, according to a report in the organisation's Telegram channel

The first evacuation train will depart from Kherson at 12:00. If necessary, additional evacuation trains will be appointed.

We will get everyone safely to Kherson no matter what," the message reads

According to Roman Mrochko, head of the Kherson GVA:

Police officers and utilities are duly carrying out their duties. Evacuation by buses goes according to plan and without panic. Thank you to the residents for observing the rules of conduct during the evacuation.

Evacuations continue to take place at three collection points on Ostrov. The Hydropark and Oil Harbour are already flooded. The bed-ridden and physically disabled are being transported to hospitals. - the head of administration noted.
