70% of the Kakhovka reservoir: what is the situation with access to water in Kryvyi Rih

Ukrinform

30% of Kryvyi Rih received water from the Karachuns, while the remaining 70% received water from the Kakhovka reservoir.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of Kryvyy Rih's military administration, said this on his Telegram account.

30% of Kryvyi Rih received water from Karachuns. There are no risks for this part of the city.

The remaining 70% of the city received water from the Kakhovka reservoir through the Yuzhnoye reservoir.

Vilkul said:

We understood the risks of lack of Kakhov water a year ago and have already implemented a large list of technical measures to ensure the city's life in these conditions, which now gives us some head start on time. An emergency meeting has already been held with all those involved, the situation has been assessed and a Plan, including technical and organisational measures, has been put in place. Technical measures, including laying of pipes, creation of new water intakes, new pumping stations and many other things will not be disclosed for obvious reasons.

According to VGA the main task now is to reduce water consumption by 30% in those areas that depend on Kakhovka.

  • It is necessary to reduce water consumption by industry as much as possible. Enterprises are asked to be conscientious, otherwise they will be forced to shut off.
  • For the population, water pressure will be reduced from 10 p.m. to 05 a.m. Water will only reach the ground floors of houses, plus flow and circulation will be provided.
  • Hose watering is completely prohibited.
  • In the villages along the arc from Inhultsa through the bottom to Sofiyivka, water will only be available from 08.00 am to 12.00 noon.
  • If these measures are not enough - additional restrictions will be introduced.

Vilkul also said that consumption has doubled in the last 5 hours and asked people to reduce the load on the city's water supply.
