Mortality due to natural causes has increased in Mariupol

Advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, told Channel 24 that the mass grave near Mariupol had almost doubled in size. According to him, recently there have been more corpses of those who died of natural causes.

Compared with the pre-war period, February 24 is an increase of four times. If before the war about 25 people died from natural causes in the city every day, now the numbers are the same, although the population of Mariupol has decreased by at least four times, - Andryushchenko explained.

He calculated that, on average, at least 2,000 Mariupol residents have already died because of this in one and a half to two months.

At the same time, he noted that the Russian occupation remains the main reason for the increase in mortality.

Since the lack of a working medical system, doctors, the lack of specific medicines, and in general the situation in which the locals survive - without water, with a lack of food - it becomes clear why the death rate is growing, he noted.

Andrushchenko noted that the situation could worsen.

If a pestilence of fish will begin, which will be eaten by hungry people, then the consequences are clear - poisoning, infectious diseases, dysentery, all this will take the lives of Mariupol residents. And it’s impossible to fight it,” he replied.

At the same time, he added that the dead residents of Mariupol are buried not only in trenches, but also in separate graves, since private funeral services have been launched in the city, which can cost about 20,000 hryvnias for a funeral.

The fact that there are more graves near Mariupol was also told by the journalists of the Scheme program.

In particular, journalists published images from the Planet Labs satellite. The photographs of the cemetery in Stary Krym, where residents of Mariupol are buried en masse, show that, compared to the May 8 photo, the burial sites have almost doubled.

Recall that there are no more doctors in Mariupol. For some time, medical workers of the occupiers worked, but they also left the city.
