Ukrainian female soldiers in captivity were subjected to torture and ill-treatment

This was announced by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova.

The women were taken to the territory of Belarus, and then to a pre-trial detention center in Bryansk (RF), where the women were tortured and threatened. The prisoners were stripped naked in the presence of men, forced to squat, cut off their hair and constantly interrogated, trying to break morally, - said Lyudmila Denisova.

She also reported that some women prisoners of war were forced to take part in the filming of propaganda stories, requiring them to switch to Russian.

Lyudmila Denisova stressed that such actions by the Russian Federation are a violation of Article 13 of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War, which focuses on the humane treatment of prisoners of war. They must always be protected, in particular, against acts of violence or intimidation, as well as against insults and public interest.

Denisova called on the UN Commission to Investigate Human Rights Violations During the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and the expert mission established by the OSCE participating States in accordance with the Moscow Mechanism to take into account these violations of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
