Trump said he hopes for peace between Ukraine and Russia before winter

The US leader expressed hope that an agreement would soon be reached between Ukraine and the Russian Federation. His statement came against the backdrop of discussions on a ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure and Ukraine’s air defence issues.
US President Donald Trump has stated that he would like to see a ceasefire agreement between Ukraine and Russia reached before winter sets in. He made these remarks whilst answering questions from journalists, according to the Clash Report.
One of the reporters asked the US President whether he had discussed the issue of supplying Ukraine with Patriot interceptor missiles with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump did not answer the question directly and instead spoke about his contacts with the Ukrainian President.
“I’ve spoken a lot with Zelenskyy,” said the US president.
According to Trump, he wants Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement to end the war.
‘I want Zelenskyy to reach an agreement with Putin, and I want Putin to reach an agreement with him,’ Trump stated.
The US President also expressed hope that an agreement between the parties could be reached in the near future, possibly even before winter.
The US is pushing for separate ceasefire agreements
Trump’s statement came against the backdrop of new diplomatic contacts regarding the war in Ukraine. Following a meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the Ukrainian president reported that the US is pushing for a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure. Kyiv has stated its readiness to support such a truce, provided Russia reciprocates.
Earlier, Zelenskyy had also spoken of the need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence ahead of winter and raised the issue of additional missiles for the Patriot systems.
