Six years in a refugee camp: intelligence evacuated a Ukrainian woman with her children from Syria

The Main Directorate of Intelligence and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry have organised the evacuation of a Ukrainian citizen and her two children who had been in a camp in Syria for six years.

This was reported by Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga in social network X. According to him, the operation was carried out on the instructions of President Vladimir Zelensky.

"The foreign Ministry together with the GUR evacuated another citizen of Ukraine and her two children from the camp, where they were for six years," - said Sibiga.

He noted that the family was issued passports and given full consular escort to ensure their safe return to Ukraine.

According to the minister, as a result of evacuation operations, Ukraine has already removed 14 women and 41 children - all those who expressed a desire to return home - from Camp Rog.

"Protecting the rights of our citizens abroad is our unconditional priority. Ukraine does not abandon its people," Sibiga emphasised.

Earlier, last December, the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate reported the evacuation of 34 people from Syria, including 15 children.

The operation took place against the backdrop of increased activity of local rebels opposed to the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

In addition, four stages of evacuation of Ukrainians were carried out from the territory of Lebanon. This happened against the background of the Israeli military operation on Lebanese territory.
