Residents of Volchansk said that in the basement they heard the occupants talking about shooting civilians.



In Volchansk community of Kharkiv region during the offensive of the occupants, the RF military forcibly kept civilians in the basement. Some of them managed to escape. This is reported by the Kharkiv regional Prosecutor's office.

Local residents of Volchansk occupants placed in the basement on 11 May 2024. on 13 May, some of them managed to escape and get to the volunteers. Now the civilians are safe.

The victims said that while in the basement they heard the Russian military talking that civilians should be shot.

They were not allowed out of the basement. And this morning a soldier came in and said: "We are going back the way we came". They took the wounded, and at that moment we ran and ran and ran. There were still people left there," said a local resident.

People were also forced to provide medical assistance to the Russian military.

These actions of representatives of the aggressor state are a direct violation of the Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, signed in Geneva on 12.08.1949, to which Ukraine and the Russian Federation are parties," the prosecutor's office said.

The Prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the fact of captivity of residents of the Volchansk community.

Earlier Socialportal reported that up to 500 people are still under constant fire of the Russian Federation troops in Volchansk. Civilians continue to be taken out, the evacuation continues both day and night.
