Pensions will increase for some Ukrainians in October: who will automatically receive a top-up

In October 2026, the Pension Fund will automatically award or increase age-related compensation payments to those who turn 70, 75 or 80 and whose total pension is less than 10,340.35 UAH. These supplements are not cumulative and will be paid from the date of birth.
In October 2026, some Ukrainian pensioners will receive a new age-based supplement or an increase to their existing pension. This applies to people who will turn 70, 75 or 80 during the month and whose total monthly pension payment is less than 10,340.35 UAH.
There is no need to submit a separate application to the Pension Fund: this supplementary payment is granted automatically. The current rules have been confirmed by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
Details
The amount of the age-related compensation payment depends on the pensioner’s age:
- from 70 to 74 years of age inclusive — up to 300 UAH per month;
- from 75 to 79 years inclusive — up to 456 UAH per month;
- from 80 years of age — up to 570 UAH per month.
The key condition is that the total amount of the pension payment, including supplements, increases and other statutory allowances, must be less than 10,340.35 UAH. If the pension already exceeds this threshold, no age-related compensation is granted.
Supplementary payments are not cumulative. When a pensioner moves into the next age category, the previous payment is replaced by the new one. For example, after turning 75, a person who was already receiving 300 UAH does not receive an additional 456 UAH on top of that, but rather an increase in the allowance to 456 UAH. The actual increase will be 156 UAH. Upon reaching the age of 80, the payment rises from 456 to 570 UAH, i.e. by a further 114 UAH.
The old-age benefit is granted from the date on which the relevant age is reached, rather than from the first day of the month. Therefore, if a person’s 70th, 75th or 80th birthday falls, for example, in mid-October, the amount for the first month will be calculated in proportion to the number of days following the birthday and may be less than the full monthly amount.
The Pension Fund calculates the payment automatically based on the information in the pension file. Entitlement to it does not depend on the type of pension, the law under which it is granted, the length of the insurance record or whether the pensioner is in employment, provided that the age requirement and the cap on the total pension payment are met.
Why this is important
This is not a general increase in pensions from 1 October. There is no provision for a general October indexation for all pensioners. The increase in the payment applies only to those who reach one of the age thresholds in this particular month and meet the programme’s conditions.
It is also important to understand correctly the amounts of 300, 456 and 570 UAH: these are the maximum monthly age-related compensation amounts for the relevant group, not three separate supplements. Furthermore, the total pension payment, including the compensation, must not exceed the established threshold of 10,340.35 UAH.
If a pensioner turns 70, 75 or 80 in October, there is no need to make a special application to the Pension Fund of Ukraine’s service centre. You can check the new calculation once the payment for the relevant period has been finalised – via your personal account on the Pension Fund’s web portal or by referring to the actual pension payment details.
