The same job in different regions of Ukraine can mean a difference of tens of thousands of hryvnias. OLX Jobs recorded the widest pay gap among façade workers, with median salaries ranging from 45,000 to 115,000 hryvnias.

The same job in different regions of Ukraine can mean a difference of tens of thousands of hryvnias. According to OLX Jobs data for July 2026, the widest pay gap was found among façade workers: the median salary for vacancies in Zakarpattia was 115,000 UAH, whilst in the Mykolaiv region it was 45,000 UAH.

The difference is 70,000 hryvnias, or 155.6 per cent relative to the lower figure. The region has a particularly strong influence on pay in the construction sector, but significant gaps also exist in logistics, healthcare, sales and telecommunications.

Details

In construction trades, the difference is sometimes more than double. Painters on building sites in the Lviv region were offered a median salary of 94,250 UAH, compared with 45,750 UAH in the Chernivtsi region. For tilers, the Kyiv region recorded 107,500 UAH compared with 52,500 UAH in the Poltava region. For bricklayers, the difference was exactly 100 per cent: 115,000 UAH in the Lviv region and 57,500 UAH in the Zhytomyr region.

Another example is plasterers: in Kyiv, the median figure reached 100,000 UAH, whilst in the Zaporizhzhia region it was 50,000 UAH. For chat operators, the difference was 90 per cent: 95,000 UAH in the Ivano-Frankivsk region compared with 50,000 UAH in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In other sectors, the gap is smaller but still significant. Long-distance lorry drivers in the Khmelnytskyi region were offered a median salary of 87,500 UAH compared to 50,000 UAH in the Sumy region, whilst dentists earned 95,000 UAH in the Kirovohrad region compared to 57,500 UAH in the Zhytomyr region.

There are professions where the regional difference is much smaller. For example, for a production mechanic, it stood at 10.3 per cent: 80,000 UAH in the Volyn region compared with 72,500 UAH in Zakarpattia. For a welder on a construction site, the difference was 8.3 per cent: 65,000 UAH in the Ivano-Frankivsk region compared to 60,000 UAH in Kyiv.

Important: these figures refer to median salaries in job adverts on OLX Work, not to a specific individual’s guaranteed earnings. The median is the value in the middle of the sample: half the adverts are above it, half below. Actual pay depends on experience, working hours, the volume of work and the terms offered by the specific employer.

Why this is important

For job seekers, these statistics serve as a practical reminder not to limit themselves to a single region, especially if their profession allows for shift work or relocation. In certain specialisms, the difference between regions is comparable to an entire additional month’s salary.

OLX Jobs attributes the widest pay gaps primarily to safety concerns and local labour shortages: where it is harder to find specialists, employers may offer higher salaries. However, this analysis highlights differences in job advertisements rather than proving that any single factor is responsible for higher salaries.

There are also limitations. The data relates only to OLX Jobs vacancies for July 2026, and the number of job adverts by profession and region may vary. Therefore, they cannot automatically be taken as the average salary for all workers in the region or as official labour market statistics.
