Russia tried to colonize the peninsula.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzhaparova considers the liberation of the peninsula annexed by Russia to be "a very close prospect."

She outlined the prospect of returning the peninsula under Ukrainian control in a conversation with the EFE agency.

Russia has tried to colonize the peninsula, since its illegal annexation in 2014, up to a million Russians have moved to Crimea, and many Ukrainian citizens have left due to massive human rights violations, she says in an interview with Efe.

Dzhaparova also condemned the growing persecution of the Tatar minority in Crimea.
