"Kharkiv is reinforced concrete": Germany will strengthen the region's air defences

German ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jaeger has visited Kharkiv and discussed with officials the strengthening of air defence systems, preparation for the heating season and reconstruction of the region as a whole. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure on 5 May.

Kharkiv is reinforced concrete. This is the reality of a city that is subjected to Russian shelling every day. Sirens, sounds of explosions, destruction, the threat of blackouts - it is important that international partners see with their own eyes how millions of Ukrainians live in their cities," the ministry said.

It is noted that Germany is one of Ukraine's strategic partners in military assistance.

Ambassador Martin Jaeger announced additional Patriot, IRIS-T and new Skynex short-range air defence systems.

Germany is also ready to join in rebuilding the energy infrastructure.

The general strategy of the region is to decentralise the energy system as much as possible. This includes the installation of mobile boilers, cogeneration plants, and gas turbines.

Germany also helps Kharkiv in the restoration of educational infrastructure.

After the missile attack on Kharkiv on 2 January, the Karazin University was left without a window. Karazin University was left virtually without windows, the restoration will be carried out with the support of the German government.

Now 17 thousand students and 5 thousand employees continue their work and education at the university.
