A family from New Zealand bought a suitcase at an auction and opened it to find the remains of a man.

New Zealand police have launched an investigation into the murder. This is reported by the New Zealand news outlet "Stuff".

We went to a local warehouse company and bought a trailer of goods from them, among which were old suitcases, "Stuff" reports the words of the head of the family.

One of the neighbors, who previously worked at the crematorium, instantly recognized the smell.

Several of the family's neighbors also said they smelled a foul odor that emanated from the premises before police arrived, Stuff reports.

Police officials said: "The priority is to find out the identity of the deceased in order to establish all the circumstances of this case."

The police do not consider the family involved in the incident.

The police also said that given all the circumstances and the time that the examination and investigation may take, it will take time before the police can inform the relatives of the deceased.
