The National Opera of Ukraine starts its new 155th theatrical season with bright masterpieces of world and Ukrainian classical art.



The new theatrical season of the National Opera begins with a gift for the youngest viewers - the ballet "The Adventures of Pinocchio", the premiere of the one-act ballet "Doctor Faust" and a grand concert on the occasion of the 90th birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian singer Anatoly Borisovich Solovyanenko.

And although the performances in September will be only “daytime” and only on Friday (beginning at 17:00), Saturday (at 15:00) and Sunday (at 15:00), and the number of spectators in the hall is very limited (only 450) persons ), the National Opera of Ukraine with its poster guarantees the joy of meeting with your favorite performances and artists!

2 spring (Friday) at 17:00 – G. Puccini’s opera “Madama Butterfly” (Cio-Cio-San)

The opera, as a result of which the popularity of the world has gained richly, is why our glorious compatriot Solomiya Krushelnytskyi is dying. On the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine, the opera was staged by the legendary Irina Molostova (premiered on the Kiev stage on 20 March 1995).

For the second time in the lead roles of this Japanese tragedy, the stage will be played by: Viktoria Chenska (Chio-Chio-san, Madame Butterfly), Andriy Romanenko (B.F. Pinkerton, senior lieutenant of the US Navy), Maria Berezovska (Suzuki, servant), Petro Priymak (Sharples, US consul at Nagasaki), Ruslan Tansky (Goro, broker-in-law), Volodymyr Tishkov (Bonza, uncle Cio-Cio-san), Mikhailo Kirishev (Prince Yamadori), Irina Petrova (Kat Pinkerton). Behind the conductor's console is Alla Kulbaba.

September 2 (Friday) at 17:00 - G. Puccini's opera "Madama Butterfly" (Cio-Cio-San)

The opera, which gained worldwide fame largely thanks to our famous compatriot Solomiya Krushelnytska. On the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine, the opera is staged by the legendary Irina Molostova (the premiere took place on the Kyiv stage on June 20, 1995).

This time, the main roles of this Japanese tragedy will take the stage: Victoria Chenskaya (Cio-Cio-san, Madama Butterfly), Andrey Romanenko (B.F. Pinkerton, senior lieutenant of the US Navy), Maria Berezovskaya (Suzuki, maid), Petr Priymak (Sharples, US Consul in Nagasaki), Ruslan Tansky (Goro, matchmaker), Vladimir Tyshkov (Bonza, Uncle Cio-Cio-san), Mikhail Kirishev (Prince Yamadori), Irina Petrova (Kat Pinkerton). September 3 (Saturday) at 15:00 and September 10 (Saturday) at 15:00 - ballet "The Adventures of Pinocchio"

Ballet directed by Viktor Litvinov to music by Yuri Shevchenko. This is a kind of rethinking and return to the original sources of this ballet. The incredible adventures of the merry prankster and his friends, skillfully performed by the leading soloists of the theater's ballet troupe, will impress both young and adult spectators.

September 4 (Sunday) at 15:00 - Opera "La Traviata" by G. Verdi

One of the most popular operas in the world, which at one time influenced the further development of European lyric opera, in particular the work of J. Massenet, R. Leoncavallo and G. Puccini. Leading roles: Olga Fomicheva (Violetta Valery), Dmitry Kuzmin (Alfred Germont), Alexander Melnichuk (Georges Germont, his father), Anzhelina Shvachka (Flora Bervois) and others.

September 9 (Friday) at 17:00 - opera by G. Verdi "Rigoletto"

Giuseppe Verdi's opera was staged after V. Hugo's drama The King Amuses himself (libretto by F. Piave). The social idea that attracted the composer in Hugo's drama was the opposition of a simple, in his own way unfortunate person, the court jester Triboulet, to the spoiled King Francis I. The opera is performed in the original language - in Italian.

September 11 (Sunday) at 15:00 - the immortal masterpiece of Ukrainian classics, the opera "The Cossack Beyond the Danube" by S. Hulak-Artemovsky, in the musical version by Miroslav Skorik and the stage version by Anatoly Solovyanenko.

September 16 (Friday) at 17:00 and September 17 (Saturday) at 15:00 - ballet "Eyes Wide Shut" directed by Victor Ischuk and PREMIERE of the ballet "Doctor Faust" to music by R. Wagner, G. Berlioz, Ch. Gounod , G. Puccini, V. Bellini

The ballet Doctor Faust is a neoclassical performance in the genre of satirical tragedy based on the works of the same name by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Christopher Marlow. The production uses the techniques of neoclassical, classical, historical and everyday dance, pantomime, as well as vocals. Opera arias symbolize divine intervention, chorus - the salvation of Faust's soul, pantomime - the act of Mephistopheles and neoclassicism as the inner world and experience of the protagonist - Doctor Faust ....

Choreographer and stage director - Victor Ishchuk, conductor - Nikolai Dyadyura. Characters and performers: Faust (Sergey Krivokon, Jan Vanya), Gretham (Natalya Matsak, Anastasia Shevchenko), Nymph (Ekaterina Kurchenko, Irina Borisova), Mephistopheles (Viktor Ishchuk, Daniil Silkin), opera arias (Liliya Grevtsova, Olga Fomicheva) . September 18 (Sunday) at 15:00 - Gioacchino Rossini's comic opera "The Barber of Seville" in a modernized version by Anatoly Solovyanenko. The performance out of space and out of time immediately became one of the most favorite among the people of Kiev and guests of the city.

September 23 (Friday) at 17:00 - the pearl of Ukrainian opera art "Natalka Poltavka" by M. Lysenko (a love story full of humor, dances and folklore in the 1st act).

September 24 (Saturday) at 15:00 - elegantly romantic ballet "Giselle" by A. Adam

September 25 (Sunday) at 15:00 - Anniversary evening on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Anatoly Borisovich Solovyanenko.

The concert program includes works from the repertoire of the outstanding Ukrainian tenor, known and loved all over the world, performed by the leading soloists of the National Opera of Ukraine. Among the best roles of Anatoly Borisovich Solovyanenko, who was also called the "Ukrainian Nightingale": Andrei ("Zaporozhian beyond the Danube" by S. Gulak-Artemovsky), Faust (in the opera of the same name by Charles Gounod), Alfred ("La Traviata" by G. Verdi), Nadir ( "Pearl Seekers" by J. Bizet), Rudolph ("La Boheme" by G. Puccini) and others.

On August 21, 2022, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Anatoly Borisovich Solovyanenko with the Presidential Distinction "National Legend of Ukraine" (posthumously).
And one of the most popular operas of the world repertoire Floria Tosca by G. Puccini (September 30, Friday at 17:00) completes the first month of the 155th theatrical season.
By the way, this year, for the first time in its history, the National Opera of Ukraine abandoned the traditional summer holidays and continued to give performances in July and August, supporting the spiritual and moral of its audience. So the 154th theatrical season "smoothly moved" to the 155th.

Important! In the event of an air raid, spectators will be invited to temporary shelter in the cloakroom located one floor below under the stalls foyer. Tickets for performances (450 seats) can be bought online.
