Borrell says Europe does not want war with Russia

European countries will continue to support Ukraine.
Europe does not want to go to war with Russia, but responds to the threat with sanctions and support for Ukraine. EU High Representative Josep Borrell stated this, Ukrinform writes.
Before the fact of the invasion (of Russia - ed.) in Ukraine, we moved from debate to concrete action and demonstrated that when we are provoked, Europe can respond. Since we do not want to go to war with Russia, economic sanctions and support for Ukraine remain the basis of our response. Our sanctions are beginning to show their effect, and this will have even more manifestation over the next months, Borrell said.
At the same time, he stressed that, contrary to the rather naive beliefs that existed in the EU a few years ago, economic interdependence does not automatically guarantee peaceful international relations. Therefore, under these conditions, Europe must become a real global force.
Borrell expressed the view that restrictive measures are already having an impact, and their effectiveness will only grow in the next few months.
At this time, the EU continues to provide Ukraine with significant political, economic, financial, humanitarian and military assistance. In addition, the EU has applied six packages of individual and sectoral sanctions against Russia, significantly reducing the ability of the Kremlin regime to continue its aggressive war against Ukraine.
