Alec Baldwin officially accused of murdering Ukrainian woman
The New Mexico prosecutor's office has filed charges against two members of the crew of the film Rust.
This was reported by The Associated Press.
The charges of manslaughter in the murder of Ukrainian Galina Gatchins were brought against Alec Baldwin and consultant Hannah Gutierrez-Reid, who was in charge of checking props and weapons.
Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed could face up to 18 months in jail and a $5000 fine if convicted, and the fact that a firearm is involved could become an aggravating factor. Their sentences could rise to five years.
The tragedy on the set of the film "Rust" became known in late October 2021 when it was reported that Alec Baldun accidentally killed one person and injured another. The deceased Ukrainian was Galina Gatchins - a photographer and cinematographer. She was 42 years old.
Galina Gatchins' family first sued Baldwin but later withdrew the charges.
We all believe Galina's death was a terrible accident - commented Matthew Gutchins, husband of the deceased cameraman.
according to local media reports, there was a scandal on the set hours before the shooting, with some crew members complaining about working conditions.
